ICMG Emir Sultan Mosque (Dandenong), ICMG Meadow Heights and ICMG Brunswick Mosque will welcome visitors from all backgrounds, offering them a unique opportunity to explore the mosques and engage in meaningful conversations.

This initiative, organised in collaboration with the Islamic Council of Victoria (ICV), aims to foster understanding, strengthen community bonds and promote mutual respect among people of different faiths and cultures.

On the day, guests will be greeted by Imams, ICMG volunteers and members of the congregation, who will be more than happy to answer questions and share insights into the Islamic faith, traditions and daily practices.

We also look forward to welcoming Federal and Local government representatives, council members and Victoria Police, who will be joining us to celebrate the diversity and harmony within our communities.

Visitors will have the chance to tour the mosques, observe prayers and enjoy a friendly and welcoming atmosphere complete with many activities for visitors.

Carlton Football Club superstar Adam Saad joined ICMG Youth Australia and the youth community to discuss footy, faith and his journey.

Overwhelmed by the experience and turnout from the youth, “I’m truly pinching myself to see the turnout mashAllah, it’s quite amazing,” said Saad.

Our youth were amazed and motivated by Adam’s story of passion, discipline, hard work and, most importantly, faith in Allah (SWT). Saad also highlighted the importance of being true to your culture and identity. “Be proud of who you are as a Muslim and your identity and be a good person with good character”, said Saad. Saad added about speaking out about your religious values and beliefs wherever you are, “They [Carlton Football Club] have been really supportive, like I mentioned be true to yourself and have those conversations”.

Highlights of the evening included the Q&A with our young audience, merchandise prizes won at our Handball Challenge and the sausage sizzle sponsored by Hasene Australia.

ICMG Youth Australia sincerely thanks Adam Saad for joining the community at ICMG Meadow Heights Mosque for an unforgettable event and in the hope to pursue with more collaborations.

The 13th Annual ICMG Street Iftar was held on Saturday 23rd April, with over 2,000 Melbournians in attendance.

The ICMG Street Iftar included warm iftar packs, guest speakers from the local government, community leaders, and a family friendly festive atmosphere with sweet and refreshments stalls, and even an Ottoman-inspired oriental cushion corner serving tasty freshly brewed Turkish Coffee.

Muslim and non-Muslim residents from all over Melbourne started gathering just after 4:30pm to join the festive annual event. Over 2,200 free warm iftar packs were prepared by ICMG volunteers and were served to guests. After receiving the iftar packs, most of the guests broke their fast under the beautifully decorated mosque courtyard, some took them back home to their families, whilst others enjoyed a picnic-like iftar at the nearby park.

The food and event were generously funded by our major sponsors and community members.

 “We missed having the Street Iftar for two years due to Covid. Praise be to Allah; he has given us the opportunity to host this successful program bringing our community together and allowing us to serve them. I would like to congratulate and thank all our volunteers – our brothers and sisters in their management of this major event,” said Ramazan Otkun, President of ICMG Australia.
