ICMG Emir Sultan Mosque (Dandenong), ICMG Meadow Heights and ICMG Brunswick Mosque will welcome visitors from all backgrounds, offering them a unique opportunity to explore the mosques and engage in meaningful conversations.

This initiative, organised in collaboration with the Islamic Council of Victoria (ICV), aims to foster understanding, strengthen community bonds and promote mutual respect among people of different faiths and cultures.

On the day, guests will be greeted by Imams, ICMG volunteers and members of the congregation, who will be more than happy to answer questions and share insights into the Islamic faith, traditions and daily practices.

We also look forward to welcoming Federal and Local government representatives, council members and Victoria Police, who will be joining us to celebrate the diversity and harmony within our communities.

Visitors will have the chance to tour the mosques, observe prayers and enjoy a friendly and welcoming atmosphere complete with many activities for visitors.

Topic: Our Compassion

Dear Brothers and Sisters!

One day, one of the children of Zaynab, the first daughter of the Prophet (saw) and our mother Khadija, fell seriously ill. Thereupon, Zaynab sent word to her father saying that his grandson was very sick and should come immediately. At that time, our Prophet (saw), who was occupied with another matter, sent greetings to her and said, “Everything that Allah takes and gives belongs to him. Everything is ordained in the sight of Allah. Be patient and expect your reward from Allah.” But when the baby’s condition deteriorated, Zaynab, who wanted to see her father with her, sent another message asking him to come and the Prophet (saw) did not hurt his daughter’s feeling and went to her house with his companions. One of his companions, Sa’d ibn Ubada, couldn’t hide his shock and asked, “O Messenger of Allah, what is this tear?” In response, the compassionate Prophet (saw) replied, “This tear is a mercy that Allah places in the hearts of those servants He wills. Allah shows mercy to those of His servants who are merciful.”

Dear Brothers and Sisters!

The word Mercy, which reflects Allah’s name Ar-Rahman, means to be most compassionate and merciful. All beings in the universe are surrounded by Allah’s mercy. One of the most distinctive features of our Prophet (saw) is undoubtedly his mercy and compassion. His ability to gather people around him and build a civilization of compassion stems from this feeling. Therefore, he advised believers to embellish their hearts with these feelings at every opportunity. The compassion of the Prophet was not limited to people only. He was also full of compassion in his behaviour towards animals and expressed this at every opportunity. One day, when our Prophet (saw) entered the garden of one of the Muslims from Medina, one of the camels there shed tears when he saw the Prophet. The Prophet (saw) calmed the camel by approaching it and stroking its head. 

Upon this, the Prophet (saw) said to the owner of the camel, “Aren’t you afraid of Allah concerning this camel He has entrusted to you? The camel has complained to me. It complained that you starve it and overwork it.” By saying this, he emphasised the need to approach all creatures with compassion, highlighting the importance of treating all beings with kindness and mercy. In another Hadith, he stated: “The Merciful One shows mercy to those who are merciful. Show mercy to those on earth, and He who is in the heavens will show mercy to you.”

Dear Jama’ah!

Unfortunately, cruelty, one of the greatest sicknesses of our times, is increasing day by day. In an era where violence, oppression, anger and hatred occupy our lives, it is necessary for us to embrace the messages of Rasulullah (saw) once again. We must not forget that we are members of the civilization of Compassion and Mercy. Towards our spouse, children, parents and all living beings, we need to be kind and compassionate. Indeed, Allah (swt) has stated, “Among His signs is that He created mates for you from yourselves, so that you may find tranquillity in them; and He placed between you affection and mercy. Surely there are signs in this for those who reflect.” Thus, He reminds us that feelings like love and compassion are manifestations of Allah’s grace.

Dear Brothers and Sisters!

Compassion is not merely a feeling shown to our own relatives or people of the same faith. Islam commands mercy towards all of humanity. Without distinction of colour, race or nationality, we should respect everyone’s rights and look upon all creatures with a compassionate eye. In times when people spread hatred and animosity for various reasons, let us always be smiling and merciful. Let’s not forget that compassion and mercy bring us closer to Allah (swt). May Allah (swt) fill our hearts with kindness and make us among His merciful believing servants. Ameen!

Muhterem Müslümanlar!

Bir gün Hz. Peygamber ile Hz. Hatice validemizin ilk kızı olan Zeyneb’in çocuklarından birisi ağır bir şekilde hastalanmıştı. Bunun üzerine Zeyneb, babasına, torununun çok hasta olduğunu, acilen gelmesini söyleyerek haber yollamıştı. O sırada farklı bir uğraş içerisinde olan Efendimiz (a.s.) ona selam gönderip, “Allah’ın aldığı ve verdiği her şey kendisine aittir. Her şey Allah katında takdir edilmiştir. Sen sabırlı ol ve mükâfatını Allah’tan bekle.” diye teskin etmişti. Fakat bebeğin durumu ağırlaşınca, babasını yanında görmek isteyen Zeyneb mutlaka gelmesini isteyerek bir daha haber göndermiş, Hz. Peygamber de kızını kırmayarak beraberindekilerle birlikte onun evine gitmişti. Can çekişmekte olan çocuğu şefkat ve merhametle kucağına alan Rahmet Peygamberi, gözyaşı dökmeye başlamıştı. Yanındaki arkadaşlarından Sa’d b. Ubâde, “Bu (gözyaşı) da nedir yâ Resûlallah?” diyerek hayretini gizleyememişti. Bunun üzerine şefkatli Nebi, “Bu gözyaşı, Allah’ın, dilediği kullarının kalplerine yerleştirdiği bir rahmettir. Allah, kullarından sadece merhametli olanlara merhamet eder.” buyurmuştu. 

Aziz Kardeşlerim!

Allah’ın Rahmân isminin bir yansıması olan merhamet, kelime anlamı olarak şefkat etmek, acımak ve insaflı davranmak demektir. Kâinattaki bütün varlıklar Allah’ın rahmetiyle kuşatılmıştır. Peygamber Efendimiz (a.s.)’ın en belirgin özelliklerinden birisi de şüphesiz merhamet ve şefkat sahibi olmasıdır. İnsanları etrafına toplayabilmesi, merhamet ve şefkat medeniyetini inşa etmesi yine bu duygudan kaynaklanmaktadır. Dolayısıyla, her fırsatta müminlere kalplerini bu duygularla süslemelerini tavsiye etmiştir. Hz. Peygamber’in şefkati sadece insanlarla sınırlı değildi. O, hayvanlara karşı davranışlarında da merhamet dolu olup bunu her fırsatta dile getirirdi. Peygamberimiz, bir gün Medineli Müslümanlardan birinin bahçesine girdiğinde orada bulunan develerden bir tanesi Efendimizi görünce gözyaşı akıtmıştı. Şefkat Peygamberi deveye yaklaşıp başını okşayarak onu sakinleştirmişti. Bunun üzerine Hz. Peygamber deve sahibine: “Allah’ın sana verdiği bu deve hakkında Allah’tan korkmuyor musun? Deve bana şikâyette bulundu. O bana senin kendisini aç bıraktığını ve fazla çalıştırarak yorduğunu şikâyet etti.” diye buyurarak tüm varlıklara merhametle yaklaşılması gerektiğine vurgu yapmıştır. Bir başka hadîs-i şerifte ise şöyle buyrulur: “Merhamet edene Rahmân olan Allah da merhamet eder. Siz yerdeki bütün mahlukata merhamet edin ki göktekiler de size merhamet etsin.”

Değerli Müminler!

Şiddetin, zulmün, öfke ve nefretin hayatımızı işgal ettiği günümüzde Rahmet Peygamberi’nin mesajlarına yeniden sarılmamız gerekmektedir. Şefkat ve merhamet medeniyetinin birer mensubu olduğumuzu unutmamalıyız. Eşimize, evlatlarımıza, anne-babamıza ve bütün canlılara karşı şefkatli ve vicdanlı olmamız gerekmektedir. Nitekim Yüce Rabbimiz “Onlara ısınıp kaynaşasınız diye size kendi türünüzden eşler yaratıp aranıza sevgi ve şefkat duyguları yerleştirmesi de Onun kanıtlarındandır. Doğrusu bunda iyi düşünen kimseler için dersler vardır.” diye buyurarak sevgi, şefkat gibi duyguların Allah’ın bir nimeti olduğunu bizlere hatırlatmıştır.

Aziz Kardeşlerim!

Merhamet, sadece kendi akrabalarımıza veya aynı inançtaki insanlara gösterilen bir duygu değildir. İslam, tüm insanlığa birbirine karşı merhametli olmayı emreder. İnsanlar arasında renk, dil, millet ayrımı yapmadan herkesin haklarına saygı göstermeli, her varlığa şefkat nazarıyla bakmalıyız. İnsanların farklı sebeplerden dolayı kin ve nefret saçtığı şu günlerde bizler daima güler yüzlü ve merhametli olalım. Merhamet ve şefkatin bizleri Allah’a yaklaştırdığını unutmayalım. Mevlamız kalplerimizi şefkatle donatsın, bizleri merhamet sahibi mümin kullarından eylesin. Amin!

Topic: Avoiding Zina

Dear Brothers and Sisters!

Islam commands people to have modesty and it forbids zina [adultery]. Adultery refers to extramarital and unwed relationships, which is considered unacceptable. It harms people not only materially but also spiritually, causing them to feel worthless and severing the bonds of affection and love. It sows seeds of distrust, grudge and hatred among people and shakes the moral values ​​of the society to its roots. The most important reason for the prohibition of adultery is the protection of the family. Because, while extramarital affairs cause the collapse of family, on the other hand, it threatens the existence of positive generations.

Dear Brothers and Sisters!

The Quran mentions: “And do not approach unlawful sexual intercourse. Indeed, it is ever an immorality and is evil as a way.”[1] Even approaching it in a suggestive manner has been prohibited and the paths leading to it are also considered disgraceful. Regarding the various forms of adultery, our Beloved Prophet (saw) mentioned in a Hadith: “The adultery of the eye is the lustful look and the adultery of the ears is listening to desirable dialogue and the adultery of the tongue is lustful speech and the adultery of the hand is the lustful touch and the adultery of the feet is to walk (to the place) where they intend to commit adultery and the heart yearns and desires which they may or may not put into effect.”[2] Thus, he warned us about the dangers of things that lead to adultery. Especially in today’s age of easy communication, we are commanded to stay away from all kinds of words, actions, behaviours and attitudes that could lead to adultery.

Dear Jama’ah!

Approaching adultery, straying from modesty and chastity, brings a person closer to punishment and leads to eternal regret. Therefore, Islam not only forbids adultery itself but also the behaviours that lead to it.

Even though they may seem like small steps, if one does not avoid actions contrary to human nature and ethics, it becomes easy to be drawn into the forbidden. Allah (swt) says: “Tell the believing men to reduce [some] of their vision and guard their private parts. That is purer for them. Indeed, Allāh is [fully] Aware of what they do. And tell the believing women to reduce of their vision and guard their private parts and not expose their adornment.”[3]

Dear Brothers and Sisters!

Today, we should try to have our youth married without getting involved in adultery. Let’s not forget that it is the duty of us adults to protect our youth in the society from adultery and to lead them to legitimate ways. In a world where falling into haram has become so easy, it has become an important task to protect our youth and guide them to the right path. We must make the utmost effort to protect the chastity, honour and dignity of both ourselves and our children. Families should first build the spiritual world of their children without worrying about material things. It is difficult for young people who cannot maintain their chastity to form a peaceful family. Therefore, we should facilitate the paths to marriage, which will protect these values.

Dear Brothers and Sisters!

To avoid adultery, we must perform our worship with humility, make an effort to pray in congregation and always seek forgiveness and mercy from Allah. If our surroundings lead us towards forbidden paths, we must immediately abandon them. To protect ourselves from the negative consequences of the act of adultery, we should observe the advice of our Prophet (saw) and turn to the act of fasting as an act of worship. Let us not forget that fasting is a shield against all evils and helps discipline ourselves. According to Sahl ibn Sa’d, Rasulullah (saw) said: “Whoever guarantees to me the protection between his lips and between his legs, I will guarantee him Paradise.” [4] May Allah (swt) protect us from all kinds of adultery and all kinds of ways that lead to it and make us one of his servants who are self-controlled. Ameen!

Kıymetli Müslümanlar!

Yüce dinimiz İslam, insana iffet ve hayâ sahibi olmayı emrederken, bu ulvi sıfatlarla örtüşmeyen zinayı ise haram kılmaktadır. Evlilik dışı ve nikâhsız birliktelik demek olan zina çok çirkin görülen büyük bir günahtır. Hem maddi hem de manevi açıdan insana zarar vererek değersizlik duygusu yaşatır, şefkat ve muhabbet bağlarını koparır. İnsanlar arasına güvensizlik, kin ve nefret tohumları ekerek toplumun manevi ve ahlaki değerlerini kökünden sarsar. Zinanın yasak olmasının en önemli hikmeti ise ailenin korunmasıdır. Zira evlilik dışı birliktelikler bir yandan aile kurumunun çöküşüne sebep olurken diğer yandan da hayırlı nesillerin varlığını tehdit eder.

Aziz Kardeşlerim!

Hayat Rehberimiz Kur’ân-ı Kerîm’de, “Zinaya yaklaşmayın. Çünkü o, çok çirkin bir iş ve kötü bir yoldur.”[1] buyrularak ona yaklaşılması bile yasaklanmış ve ona götüren yollar da çirkin görülmüştür. Sevgili Peygamberimiz şöyle buyurmuştur: “Gözler zina eder, onların zinası bakmaktır. Dudaklar zina eder, onların zinası öpmektir. Eller zina eder, onların zinası dokunmaktır. Ayaklar zina eder, onların zinası (o işe) yürümektir. Ferç (uzuv) ise bunu ya doğrular (tasdik eder) ya da yalanlar.”[2] Özellikle sanal dünyaya erişimin ve iletişimin imkânlarının çok kolay ve yaygın olduğu çağımızda, zinaya sebebiyet verebilecek her türlü söz, fiil, davranış ve tavırdan uzak durmamız elzemdir. 

Muhterem Müminler!

Zinaya yaklaşmak, hayâ ve iffetten uzak kalmak kişiyi azaba yaklaştırmakta ve ebedî hüsrana sürüklemektedir. İşte bu sebeple İslam, sadece zinayı değil ona götüren davranışları da yasaklamıştır. Küçük gibi gözükse de fıtrata ve ahlaka aykırı adımlardan kaçınılmadığı müddetçe harama sürüklenmek kolaydır. Nitekim Nûr suresinde Cenâb-ı Allah “(Resulüm!) Mümin erkeklere, gözlerini (harama) dikmemelerini, ırzlarını da korumalarını söyle. (…) Mümin kadınlara da söyle, gözlerini (harama bakmaktan) korusunlar, namus ve iffetlerini esirgesinler.”[3] buyurarak bizleri bu hususta uyarmıştır.

Aziz Kardeşlerim!

Evlenme yaşının giderek geciktiği günümüzde gençlerimizi zinaya bulaşmadan evlendirme gayretinde olmalıyız. Unutmayalım ki toplumdaki gençleri zinadan korumak ve meşru yollara sevk etmek büyüklerin vazifesidir. Harama düşmenin bu denli kolaylaştığı dünyada bu artık çok önemli bir görev hâline gelmiştir. Hem kendimizin hem de evlatlarımızın iffet, namus ve şerefini korumak için azami gayret sarf etmeliyiz. Aileler öncelikle maddiyatı düşünmeden, Allah’ın her şeye kadir olduğuna iman ederek, en başta çocuklarının manevi dünyasını inşa etmelidirler. İffetini koruyamayan gençlerin huzurlu bir aile kurma imkânları güçtür. O yüzden evlilik müessesesine giden yolları kolaylaştırmalıyız.

Değerli Kardeşlerim!

Zinaya bulaşmamak için ibadetlerimizi huşu içerisinde eda etmeliyiz, cemaatle namaz kılmaya özen göstermeliyiz. Her daim Allah’tan af ve mağfiret dileyerek, neslimizin temiz ve salih olması için niyazda bulunmalıyız. Gayrimeşru yollara bizleri sevk eden çevremiz var ise derhâl onları terk etmeliyiz. Zina fiilinin menfi sonuçlarından korunmak için Peygamberimizin tavsiyesine uyarak oruç ibadetine yönelmeliyiz. Unutmamalıyız ki oruç ibadeti tüm kötülüklere karşı bir kalkandır, aynı zamanda nefsimizi de terbiye etmektedir.

Hutbemizi şu hadîs-i şerif ile bitirelim: Sehl b. Sa’d’dan nakledildiğine göre, Resûlullah (s.a.v.) şöyle buyurmuştur: “Kim bana iki dudağı arasındakini ve iki bacağı arasındakini korumayı garanti ederse, ben de ona cenneti garanti ederim.”[4] Mevlamız bizleri her türlü zinadan, ona giden her türü yollardan korusun, nefsine hâkim olan kullarından eylesin. Amin!

Topic: Importance of Knowledge

Dear Brothers and Sisters!

We Muslims are a community addressed in the Qur’an with the first revelation being, ‘Read in the name of your Lord who created – Created man from a clinging substance. Read, and your Lord is the most Generous – Who taught by the pen – Taught man that which he knew not.”[1] Therefore, it is necessary for parents to fulfill their responsibilities properly and provide all kinds of support to their children to ensure their success in schools. Our students at schools should also strive to do their best and excel in their studies. They should express gratitude for the blessing of education they have and make the most of the opportunities available to them. They should strive to develop themselves and become exemplary individuals in the countries they live in.

Dear Brothers and Sisters!   

Indeed, the importance Islam places on knowledge goes beyond the information gained through formal education. As our scholars have put it, knowledge is a lifelong pursuit from the cradle to the grave. All Muslims should seek knowledge throughout their lives in every stage. Those who do not value knowledge equally on two consecutive days are at a loss. The true essence and quality of worshiping Allah can only be achieved through deepening one’s knowledge. Allah (swt) mentions; “Only those fear Allāh, from among His servants, who have knowledge.”[2]

Because those who have knowledge and deepen in knowledge will appreciate Allah’s power and might. Those who remain ignorant will assign power and might to beings other than Allah. This will be the biggest indicator of ignorance.

Dear Jama’ah!

Seeking knowledge is an important responsibility that Allah (swt) has placed on us. Allah (swt) has advised the Prophet (saw), “So high [above all] is Allāh, the Sovereign, the Truth. And, [O Muḥammad], do not hasten with [recitation of] the Qur’ān before its revelation is completed to you, and say, “My Lord, increase me in knowledge.”[3] Blessed are those who, in an age of intense search for meaning, have the determination to walk on the noble and blessed path of knowledge! Dear Brothers and Sisters!

What distinguishes conscious people from unconscious ones is that all their actions serve a purpose. Our aspiration to knowledge should not serve the purpose of showing off to those around us. The aim in knowledge should primarily serve the purpose of knowing Allah, serving Him properly and gaining His approval. Otherwise, it is not a skill to load unnecessary and meaningless information. The prayer of the Messenger of Allah (saw) regarding this issue is very meaningful.; “O Allah! I seek refuge in You from the knowledge which is not beneficial, and from a heart which does not fear (You), and from desire which is not satisfied, and from prayer which is not answered”[4] My brothers and sisters! Let us spend the life that Allah has bestowed upon us not chasing useless knowledge but acquiring knowledge that will benefit both our worldly life and the Hereafter.

In these lands where we are the minority, may Allah (saw) grant our children clarity of mind as they attend school. May He equip them with beneficial knowledge and make them among those righteous servants who act upon their knowledge. Ameen!

Kıymetli Müslümanlar!

Çağımız, insanların okullarda bilgi edindiği ve mesleki eğitim aldığı bir tedrisat sistemine sahiptir. Biz Müslümanlar, Kur’ân-ı Kerîm’de ilk olarak “Yaratan Rabbinin adıyla oku! O, insanı alaktan yaratmıştır. Oku! Kalemle (yazmayı) öğreten, (böylece) insana bilmediğini bildiren Rabbin sonsuz kerem sahibidir.”[1] ayetlerine muhatap olmuş bir ümmetiz. O sebeple, evlatlarımızın okullarda başarılı olması için, velilerin üzerine düşeni hakkıyla gerçekleştirmesi ve yavrularına her türlü desteği vermesi icap etmektedir. Okullardaki öğrencilerimiz de ellerinden gelenin en iyisini ortaya koymalı ve derslerinde başarılı olmaya gayret etmelidir. Sahip oldukları eğitim nimetinin şükrünü eda etmeli ve imkânlardan sonuna kadar faydalanmalıdır. Kendilerini iyi yetiştirmeli ve bulundukları ülkelerde örnek şahsiyetler olmalıdır.

Değerli Müminler!   

Elbette İslam’ın İlme verdiği önem, örgün eğitim sisteminde kazanılacak bilgiler ile sınırlı değildir. Âlimlerimizin veciz ifadesiyle, ilim beşikten mezara kadardır. Tüm Müslümanlar, hayatlarının her döneminde ilme talip olmalıdırlar. İlim bakımından iki günü birbirine eşit olan ziyandadır. Âlemleri yoktan var eden Allah’a gereğince kulluk yapmanın kalite ve kalibresi, ilimde derinleşmek ile mümkündür. Yüce Mevlamız; “Allah’a karşı ancak; kulları içinden âlim olanlar derin saygı duyarlar.”[2]diye buyurmuştur. Çünkü ilim sahibi olanlar ve ilimde derinleşenler, Allah’ın güç ve kudretini hakkıyla takdir edeceklerdir. Cahil kalanlar ise güç ve kudreti Allah dışındaki varlıklara yakıştıracaklardır. Bu ise, şuursuzluğun ve idraksizliğin en büyük göstergesi olacaktır.

Muhterem Cemaat!

İlme talip olmak, Rabbimizin üzerimize yüklemiş olduğu önemli bir sorumluluktur. Mevlamız (c.c.), yüce Peygamberimizden, “Gerçekliğinde şüphe bulunmayan, her şeye hükümran olan Allah yüceler yücesidir. Sana vahyi tamamlanmadan Kur’an’ı okumada aceleci davranma ve ‘Rabbim! İlmimi arttır.’ de.”[3] diye kendisine niyazda bulunmasını istemiştir.Anlam arayışının zirve yaptığı bir çağda, ilmin kutlu ve mübarek yolunda yürüme azmine sahip olanlara ne mutlu! İlmini arttırmak, hayata bakışta geniş bir ufka sahip olmaya çalışmak gayesine sahip olanlar, dünyada ve ahirette izzet ve şerefe nail olacaklardır.

Aziz Kardeşlerim!

Şuurlu insanları şuursuz olanlardan ayıran, bütün eylemlerinin bir amaca hizmet etmesidir. İlme talip olmamız, çevremizdekilere bilgiçlik taslama amacına hizmet etmemelidir. İlimde amaç öncelikle Allah’ı tanımak, Ona hakkıyla kulluk yapmak ve rızasını kazanmak gayesine hizmet etmelidir. Yoksa, gereksiz ve anlamsız bilgileri yüklenmek marifet değildir. Resûlullah (s.a.v.) Efendimizin mevzu ile ilgili duası, çok manidardır; “Allah’ım! Huşu duymayan kalpten, kabul edilmeyen duadan, doymayan nefisten ve fayda vermeyen ilimden sana sığınırım. Bu dört şeyden sana sığınırım.”[4] Kardeşlerim!Allah’ın bize bahşettiği ömrü, faydasız bilgiler peşinde koşarak değil, dünyamıza ve ahiretimize katkısı olacak ilimleri elde etmek ile geçirelim.

Azınlıkta yaşadığımız coğrafyalarda, okula giden evlatlarımıza Allah (c.c.) zihin açıklığı versin. Onları faydalı ilimler ile donatsın. İlmiyle amil olan salih kullardan eylesin. Amin!

Topic: 10 Muharram – Day of Ashura

Dear Brothers and Sisters!

This blessed Friday we are in is also the 10th day of Muharram. On this day, Adam (a.s.)’s repentance was accepted and Nuh (a.s.) was saved from the flood and the believers accompanying him. Ibrahim (a.s.), who was thrown into the fire of the cruel Namrud, was protected by the grace of Allah (swt), Musa (a.s.) was saved from the oppression of the Pharaoh and Yusuf (a.s.) was saved from prison. Today, Ayyub (a.s.), who is also an example of patience against troubles and calamities, has recovered from his illnesses. In addition, the 10th of Muharram is the day when Hussein, the precious grandson of the Prophet (saw), was martyred in Karbala, one of the most painful disasters in the history of Islam. This evil massacre continues to burn the hearts of every Muslim, regardless of sect, even after centuries. We can only overcome this disaster that history has imposed on the Ummah by taking lessons from the incident and increasing our unity.

Dear Brothers and Sisters!

The greatest message this glorious day has given us is that for a Muslim, the unity and well-being of the ummah is one of their greatest life goals. Allah (swt) warns us in the Qur’an as follows: “And do not be like the ones who became divided and differed after the clear proofs had come to them. And those will have a great punishment.”[1] Let us be compassionate and merciful to one another so that new tragedies do not occur today. Let’s unite our hearts. Let’s make room for each other in our hearts, let’s connect our lives with love. Rasulullah (saw) said; “Do not hate one another, and do not be jealous of one another, and do not desert each other, and O, Allah’s worshipers! Be brothers.”[2] Let’s unite around Islamic values ​​that will lead us to success in the world and the hereafter. Let’s tolerate each other and love for the sake of Allah (swt).

Dear Jama’ah!

In the early days of Islam, it was compulsory to fast on the Day of Ashura before Ramadan fasting became compulsory. After the fasting of Ramadan was made compulsory, this fast became an extra act of worship. In this respect, the most acceptable fasting after Ramadan is the one held on the 10th of Muharram, that is, on the day of Ashura. Because the Messenger of Allah (saw) said, “The most valuable fasting after Ramadan is fasting in the month of Allah, Muharram.”[3] The hadith reveals the value of this fast.

Dear Brothers and Sisters!

All the prophets we mentioned at the beginning of our khutba are a link in the chain of Islamic prophets mentioned in the Qur’an. Their struggle for “tawhid” sets an example for us Muslims, who are the Ummah of Prophet Muhammad (saw). First and foremost, we must apply the ethics of Islam, which are essential to the concept of Tawhid to our own selves. In social life, we should strive to spread Islam’s invitation to goodness, beauty and truth to humanity. As Muslims, we will undoubtedly be held accountable for ourselves on the Day of Judgment. However, Allah (swt) will also hold us accountable for our responsibilities towards those around us.

May Allah (swt) grant us the opportunity to reach the consciousness of the Day of Ashura, to strengthen our unity and solidarity, and to attain Allah’s forgiveness. Ameen.

İçinde bulunduğumuz bu mübarek cuma günü, aynı zamanda Muharrem ayının 10. günüdür. Bu istisnai günde, Âdem (a.s.)’ın tövbesi kabul edilmiş, Nûh (a.s.) tufandan kurtulup, gemisi ve beraberindeki müminlerle selamete ermiştir. Zalim Nemrut’un ateşine atılan İbrâhim (a.s.) Cenâb-ı Hakk’ın lütfuyla korunmuş, Mûsâ (a.s.) Firavun’un zulmünden ve Yusuf (a.s.) zindandan kurtulmuştur. Bugün, aynı zamanda bela ve musibetlere karşı sabır örneği olan Eyyûb (a.s.) hastalıklarından felaha kavuşmuştur. Ayrıca 10 Muharrem günü, İslam tarihinin gördüğü en acı felaketlerden biri olan, Peygamber Efendimiz (s.a.v.)’in kıymetli torunu Hz. Hüseyinʼin Kerbela’da şehit edildiği gündür. Bu menfur katliam, aradan yüzyıllar geçmesine rağmen, hangi mezhepten olursa olsun her Müslüman’ın yüreğini yakmaya devam etmektedir. Ümmetin sırtına tarihin yüklemiş olduğu bu facianın üstesinden, ancak hadiseden ibret alarak ve dayanışmamızı artırarak gelebiliriz. 

Aziz Müminler!

Bu muazzez günün bize verdiği en büyük mesaj, bir Müslüman için ümmetin birliği ve dirliğinin en büyük hayat gayelerinden birisi olduğudur.  Yüce Rabbimiz, Kur’ân-ı Kerîm’de bizi şöyle uyarır: “Kendilerine apaçık deliller geldikten sonra parçalanıp ayrılığa düşenler gibi olmayın. İşte onlar için büyük bir azap vardır.”[1]
Günümüzde yeni Kerbelaların yaşanmaması için, birbirimize karşı şefkatli ve merhametli olalım. Kalplerimizi birleştirelim. Gönüllerimizde birbirimize yer açalım, hayatlarımızı muhabbetle buluşturalım. Sevgili Peygamberimiz (s.a.v.)’in; “Birbirinize nefret ve düşmanlık beslemeyin, birbirinize haset etmeyin, birbirinize sırt çevirmeyin, Ey Allah’ın kulları! Kardeş olun.”[2] hadisi mucibince hareket edelim. Bizi dünya ve ahirette felaha ulaştıracak olan İslami değerler etrafında kenetlenelim. Birbirimizi hoş görelim, Allah için sevelim.

Değerli Cemaat!

İslam’ın ilk dönemlerinde, ramazan orucu farz olmadan evvel aşure günü oruç tutmak vacipti. Ramazan orucunun farz kılınmasından sonra, bu oruç nafile bir ibadet oldu. Bu itibarla ramazandan sonra en makbul oruç, muharrem ayının 10’u, yani aşure gününde tutulandır. Zira Resûlullah (s.a.v.) Efendimizin “Ramazan ayından sonra en kıymetli oruç, Allah’ın ayı olan muharrem ayında tutulan oruçtur.”[3] hadisi, bu orucun değerini ortaya koymaktadır.

Muhterem Kardeşlerim!

Hutbemizin başında zikrettiğimiz tüm peygamberler, Kur’ân-ı Kerîm’de zikredilen İslam peygamberleri zincirinin birer halkasıdır. Onların vermiş olduğu “tevhid” mücadelesi, Hz. Muhammed Mustafa (s.a.v.)’in ümmeti olan biz Müslümanlar için de örnek teşkil etmektedir. Öncelikle tevhidin gereği olan İslam ahlakını kendi nefsimize hâkim kılmalıyız. Toplumsal hayatta ise İslam’ın insanlığı iyiye, güzele ve doğruya davetinin yayılmasına gayret etmeliyiz. Biz Müslümanlar, ahiret gününde öncelikle elbette kendimizden hesaba çekileceğiz. Lakin, âlemlerin Rabbi olan Allah (c.c.) bizleri çevremize karşı sorumluluklarımızdan da hesaba çekecektir.

Aşure günümüzün bilincine ermeyi, birlik ve beraberliğimizi muhkem kılmayı ve Allah’ın mağfiretine ermeyi Mevlamız bizlere nasib-i müyesser eylesin. Amin!
